On the Road

Supporting the newsletter with events and presentations

I was hoping I'd be able to write a newsletter this week but I ended up with too much on my plate. Therefore, rather than write a newsletter, I'm sending out this quick personal note.

Part of the work I do in support of the newsletter is offer talks and presentations as a way of sharing inspiring stories about the natural world. Most of the time I'm able to offer talks over Zoom from home, but sometimes I need to be on the road, and this is one of those weeks. I'm presently giving a talk in Walla Walla in eastern Washington, then driving across the state to lead a bird walk and give the keynote address at the Leavenworth Bird Festival.

This is a bit daunting, so all week I've been nervously packing and preparing, with to-do lists scattered all over my desk and no bandwidth left over to write a newsletter.

Again I apologize for missing this week's newsletter, but a few days ago I re-discovered one of my YouTube videos that I've been wanting to share with you.

Before I started writing a weekly newsletter, I used to make a video every week, and I love how the newsletter and the videos are two fantastic ways of sharing my love of nature! In this short video I focused on the beauty of spring and taking time to soak things up, so I hope it strikes a chord with you.

Until next week's newsletter, please enjoy a bit of spring for me.

P.S. Since there's no newsletter this week, I wanted to share something else you might enjoy. This longer (45-minute) video is a free-wheeling conversation about bird migration that I recently recorded with Amber Hasselbring from San Francisco's fabulous Nature in the City program. It's an example of the types of outreach I'm doing every week in support of the Lukas Guides newsletter.

(My introduction is at 7:20, and I start talking about migration at 10:30.)
